              Buffet
Metro Chinese Restaurant Manchester - reader comments
             |
          | "Supposed
to be 60 different variteties available - there wasn't and what
was available was reheated/mildly warm. Starters swimming
in grease, vegetables sloppy, salad bar - didn't even go
there (the waiter kept stirring dishes, I think to keep the brown
edging from setting in!) 1 of the '60 dishes' was a bowl offering
approx. 6 or 7 tiny pickled onions! They give you a loyalty card,
buy 5 meals get 1 free - I would not eat there again, free or not!!
P.S. The coke machine could have done with a bit more syrup adding
            too!"

the food was fresh, waiters constantly checked the trays.
We were under no pressure to leave even though it was Chinese New
Year celebrations and they were busy. Recommended"

          | "We
e-mailed a question the night before and Darren phoned me back on
the day. Even though we arrived at 10pm, we were greeted by name and
we were made very welcome. The food was very good with a wide
choice even though it was half an hour before closing. We
will visit this restaurant again it was excellent."

          | "The
other reviews are quite good, I wondered if they ate at the same place
or they went when the chef was having a good day. The restaurant is
a typical buffet arrangement, which attracts a certain
kind of clientele and yes the food from these types of places is never
as good as a proper restaurant, so I judged it on that basis.
Unfortunately the food was terrible, all bar one
dish, Beef in Blackbean Sauce, which is bog standard fayre in most
Oriental restaurants and was unremarkable in any
case. The problem was that anything which had been fried (most of
the dishes) tasted of the cooking oil and not much else, some dishes
suffered from not just that but were far too salty. To be honest I
don't usually judge a place on the decor or toilets, I prefer to let
the food do the talking, here's my thoughts anyway, the place itself
was unremarkable and the toilets looked like a clampett DIY job. To
conclude Buffet Metro was poor as a restaurant and poor compared
to its competitors, I have been to Buffet City, which is
not perfect but is far superior to this place."

          | "Great
Chinese food in a relaxed environment. Staff
very friendly and prices very good. Our
children had a great evening and were made to feel welcome. We would
go back tomorrow it was that good."

          | "Everything
you would expect of a good quality buffet. There
were many many dishes to choose from, and all equally
tasty. Been a couple times, my prefferred sitting
is to sit under the sky-light. I was pleased to find that after each
serving the waiters came to clear away your used plates. And at no
point did i feel pressured/rushed to eat quickly and leave my table,
            like some other buffets do."

          | "Good
quality, fresh food with so much
choice I had no option but to take them up on their 'all
you can eat' offer - especially for the superb beef dumplings! Service
was attentive - I was impressed how they also kept stirring the sauces
and turning the food to prevent it from becoming the usual stodge
you find at most buffet restaurants. Superb choice of drinks
with a great wine list on offer and prices were extremely
good too. Great location for a bite to eat
when shopping or heading back to Piccadilly Station also. Only
downside was the toilets - they were very dirty and despite
being a new restaurant they've kept the inherited toilets from the
            previous tenants without modernising them."
